After the presentation Saturday some of the boys were feeling a bit jaded from a long and night. But the cleared of those cobwebs & stepped up with some good football in the first half. Jaden playing LM for the absent Ayo put through a great pass for Alex to get on the end of in the first half to make it 1-0. Alex had another chance that Jaden put him in on again but this time the keeper pushed it round the post. Lions had a speculative shot with Jake misjudged & dropped into his own net to make it 1-1. Harry was put through by Parents MoM David & curled a great shot round the keeper only to see it come back of the post. Pegs dominated the play creating 2 more chances that Lions keeper did well to save. Half time came & I was pleased with 1-1.
With so many boys today we had to make changes and saw Henry on Danny @RB - Billy on for Jonny @CM - Ed on for Adam @RM & Lucas on for Kenzie @CB. A mistake from a long thrw saw Lions take a 2-1 lead. But David then put Harry through one on one with the keeper and he curled it round the keeper with his left foot 2-2. Now Harry had his goal he took a breather & we pushed David up top & put Nick into CM. Nick earned his coaches MoM award with so great footy. The Lions keeper miss kicked his goal kick & David intercepted took 3 touches and volleyed a great shot that looped over the keeper to make it 3-1. Alex the took a whack in the box and had to come of so we switched Harry back on & took Rob off and put Kenzie at LB.
Harry then turned goal provider by setting David up for his 2nd goal with a great interchange of passing 4-2. Lions got back into it after reserve keeper Jack could only get 1 hand to a close range shot. 4-3.
Colts thought they had sealed the deal when Jonny who had come back on as CM for an exhausted Billy played a great cross for Adam to steal a tap in at the far post. The ref blew for the goal and then saw the linesman flag was up. A real shame as it was a great worked goal.
Final score was 4-3 to Pegs & some great football played.
